Stokes Valley Library Closure and Koraunui Hub Opening
Thank you to the many children who participated in the combined schools group that performed at the SV Library and Community Hall closing ceremony on the first Saturday of the holidays, and to all the classes that formed the ‘child chain’ to transport some of the library books to its temporary home.
Our children who put their hands up to perform at the Stokes Valley Library and Community Hall closing ceremony went down to Tawhai School today to rehearse with the other two schools. It was a great session with lots of enthusiasm and camaraderie from all involved. Thanks, Matua Jade, from Tui Glen, and the Year 7 & 8 seniors, for your leadership.
Today marks one year since our move to the Temporary Library.
Here are tamariki from Koraunui School singing a waiata whilst waiting to move the children's books down to our temp space, don't they sound reka!
Only a month until we are in our brand new hub - keep an eye out for info about our opening celebration - hub staff will be singing this very waiata!
There are some great photos from the Official Stokes Valley Community Notice Board and Koraunui School Group of the closing ceremony in the gallery. One of the most memorable was when Koraunui School pupils broke into a waiata outside the library. Many shoppers stopped what they were doing just to watch or join in. What a great community spirit.
Mark Tantrum Photography has put together a great Stokes Valley Library Video of our Stokes Valley Library Moving Day with Koraunui School, Tawhai Primary School and Tui Glen School. Unfortunately the sound does not work but the images are wonderful.
