On Monday, the Kauri Team bravely ventured into Wellington to take part in a range of educational sessions at Te Papa. The focus was ‘Our Active Earth’: In particular, New Zealand volcanoes and earthquakes.
The children were divided into 3 groups- with the Year 3’s taking part in a separate programme. A highlight of their learning was the Minecraft Challenge (involving earthquakes). The wonderful teamwork of this group of tamariki was commented on in a positive way.
Other groups thoroughly enjoyed the Tectonic Plates puzzle, the Earthquake House and the visual recreations of New Zealand eruptions.
It was a very interesting and informative day enjoyed by all.
