Te Wiki o te Reo Maori - MĀORI LANGUAGE WEEK 2024
Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is an annual celebration for all New Zealanders to show their support for the Māori language, an official language of this country.
The theme for Te Wiki 2024 is ‘Ake ake ake – A Forever Language’. It represents the resilience, adaptability and endurance of te reo Māori. It also reflects the commitment New Zealanders have to embracing and learning te reo Māori long into the future. We will be celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori next week in a range of different ways with tamariki, but most importantly, we will all be having a go at using te reo Māori more in our daily interactions.
Te Wiki o te Reo Maori - MĀORI LANGUAGE WEEK 2022
Our Kura had a fun filled week celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori! Fetu o le Moana and Te Puāwaitanga o te Kākano went to Te Papa to listen to pūrakau and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The tamariki were speaking Māori all over the Kura and in the playground. They produced some amazing artwork and had a lot of fun completing their videos for the daily Te Reo Māori challenges. Congratulations to our toa o te wiki: Room 13, Alumeci, Nixon, Yazme, Sione, Sammy, Ariki, Anaesi and Eliana. Ka mau te wehi koutou ma! Kia kaha tonu ki te korero Māori!
