Over the past 2 weeks our Year 6 tamariki have been learning about the impact we have on our environment and how we can reduce the amount of waste that goes into the landfill through the World of Waste programme.
This is an out of classroom experience that links them to the story of waste management in our area and helps them recognise that even with the innovative and creative waste management taking place, we need to reduce waste at source and there are things we can do. This is run by EnviroSchools and the Hutt City Council where tamariki visit the Silverstream Landfill, EarthLink and the Dowse. Lee and Maico even got to have a play with some old film set cameras.
